These fellows are cute ones. A friend of mine, of italian origin, called it a Tarantola or Tarentola when he saw one, if I recall correctly (which surprised me, because in Spanish, a Tarántula, sounding very similarly, is a very different kind of creature).

In Spanish these insectivorous geckos are called Salamanquesas or Saltarrostros (which means "jump to the face", which is an activity they are famous for not doing). It's said that they bring good luck.
