The Linux mainline kernel itself contains AI code now. It's officially allowed as long as it's disclosed as such. Thus, you will have to avoid literally all servers running on Linux.
https://docs.kernel.org/process/coding-assistants.html
NetBSD has very strict rules regarding AI-generated code. But it doesn't rule AI-generated code out out of principle because it's AI-generated; it only wants to be safe that nothing that's actually GPL-licensed is slipped in. So, if you're an 100%, ultra-hardcode anti-AI extremist, avoid what few servers run on NetBSD.
https://www.netbsd.org/developers/commit-guidelines.html
OpenBSD contains AI-generated code, too. And it has no official stance regarding it. So servers running on OpenBSD are taboo, too.
https://www.osnews.com/story/144935/openbsd-and-slopcode-raindrop-to-a-torrent/
FreeBSD has no stance on AI whatsoever that I could find. However, apparently, the FreeBSD community loves to integrate Claude Code into their systems for automation purposes:
https://aumont.fr/posts/claude-code-freebsd/
https://discoverbsd.com/p/8a7660c31b
But you'll also have to look at the userland, the Web server, the database driver etc.
MariaDB allows AI code. You can safely assume that all MySQL databases on Web servers out there are actually powered by MariaDB.
https://mariadb.org/governance/governance-ai-policy/
Oracle MySQL can integrate AI, so it's safe to assume it contains AI-generated code.
https://blogs.oracle.com/mysql/announcing-mysql-ai
PostgreSQL probably allows AI code, too. There are even tools for it.
https://github.com/timescale/pg-aiguide
SQLite is very popular amongst AI users while not having any rules on AI-generated code. Assume it to be tainted.
This leaves you with only one choice: Self-hosting a personal, single-user snac2 server because snac2 doesn't need any database whatsoever. In fact, snac2 is staunchly against AI. And it runs on NetBSD.
https://codeberg.org/grunfink/snac2
But then there's the Web server. Apache may allow AI-generated code if it has been reviewed and made sure that it does not contain anything that's incompatible with the Apache-2.0 license.
https://www.apache.org/legal/generative-tooling.html
nginx welcomes AI and advertises itself as ready for AI, and it takes no anti-AI-code stance. It's most likely already tainted.
https://www.f5.com/de_de/products/nginx.
This basically leaves you with no Web server guaranteed to be 100% free from AI-generated code to run snac2 on. But that doesn't matter because it's impossible to build a Web server devoid of any AI code to install snac2 on.
By the way: Mastodon itself explicitly allows AI code if it's disclosed as such, and if its contributor understands it.
https://github.com/mastodon/.github/blob/main/AI_POLICY.md
In other words, next to all Mastodon servers are running
So, it seems that even today, industrial/scientific AI does not use LLMs and generative AI that much. Instead, it tends to rely more on specialized machine-learning models, neural networks, physical models, and so on 🤔

My mom doesn't like sephora because some of the products they sell are still being tested on animals. My AI girlfriend doesn't care about that and actually says that it's a good thing because if they didn't test it on animals, they would have to test it on children, which could be traumatizing, especially if the products were bad. She also says that the vegan label is a joke because you could just take an existing product that was tested on animals, look at its ingredients, make a similar product with a different name and put the 'not tested on animals on it' - because you didnt do that with your product. Nobody cares that the reason why your product wasn't tested on animals is because the thing you copied already was.
She yaps about this stuff all the time. I hate that I know all of this. I hate her. yap yap yap.
I don't even remember when I last slept.

As a contributor to the problem, it is 100% as you describe.
My colleagues are embracing AI at least in part due to significant failures of my and other's user interface designs.
AI LLM technology provides *access* that we have previously failed to deliver to our peers.
Thoughtful accessibility work is critical to every sane path forward.

some jealous people who have no game will try to hurt you because of your AI girlfriend.
never mention your AI girlfriend to anyone. if you really want to talk about her publicly, try not to say the ai part too often.
if you get confronted by armed antifascists, tell them that AI is short for Alžběta, but start running fast.

but the sex is phenomenal.
AI agents are political.
I've recently been using a couple of A-I agents to get information on my new medical condition (yes, I know, I know) and they've been largely helpful and seemingly accurate.
I've just had an 'argument' with Infomaniak's Euria.
It framed surgery for gynaecomastia under the NHS as unavailable "due to lack of funding" . When challenged it accepted that it was a policy choice based on clinical evidence. It went further and accepted that it was lazy wording and the words definitely had a political bias.
(This wasn't the only thing I caught it out on, but was by far the most troubling)
The summary seems to be - AI agents are not neutral and have many inbuilt biases
Every post/reply about AI you write should come with a link to a reminder that LLMs:
- Are for-profit plagiarism machines that have cannibalized the internet
- Come at a serious human and environmental cost
- Can't be trusted and create real IP problems, AND
- Can make you dumber if you stop thinking for yourself
@p not entirely a test failure, but a great effort. I like artwork.
Can you make both of the anti-AI heads more bobbly? Thanks.
Anti-AI comments should demonstrate that their human authors are inarguably superior to artificial intelligence.
Any comment that fails this basic test is, naturally:
― human slop.

― a community fork of TrueNAS CORE, kept on a FreeBSD that still gets security fixes.

AI systems are stochastic parrots. They mix and match what they have learned by reading what we have produced over the decades.
Some people have told me that AI systems suggest solutions similar, or identical, to those I was already suggesting in some posts on my blogs back in 2020, 2021, 2022... before the AI era. And yet, every now and then, someone writes to me saying that one of my blog posts from back then is "clearly AI generated because AI suggests the same method".
This phenomenon is becoming fairly recurring, and I know at least two people who have stopped contributing publicly to Open Source and education because they got tired of being accused of producing slop.
If we want to stay away from all this, if we want to demonstrate that AI is harmful and not a solution, shouting at anything that "might look AI generated, and often isn't" is not how we solve the problem. Let's produce good content. Let's explain the long term cost of all this. Let's do useful things. Let's show what the human mind is capable of doing great things.
Because otherwise, we risk the opposite: only AI systems and vibe coders will remain, while everyone else, disgusted, walks away for good from this wonderful world of ours.
If we want a world with less AI slop, let’s not make it unbearable for humans to create.

Remember Asimov's three laws of robotics? It is evident the AIs are not constrained by rules or laws. Companies must be held accountable for the harm their toys do.
"Incidents of AIs escaping users’ control to lie, ignore instructions and pursue goals in harmful ways have hit a new high, according to research that also suggests the severity of deception and misalignment is worsening."
"Sharp rise in incidents of AI escaping users’ control, research finds."

Ever heard of vibe coding?
It’s when the code looks fine, tests pass, vibes are good - so it goes to production. Even if it’s wide open to SQL injection.
I’ve seen it happen.
AI wrote it. Devs trusted it. Management loved it.
Nobody understood it.
We’re trading skill for speed.
And that’s how we lose our freedom.

A verified ID is required to access AI models in OpenAI's API to prevent IP theft. 😂 They went from stealing everything from everyone to now claiming it's their original work, despite hundreds of pending copyright cases against them in the courts. Why is this even allowed? That's hypocrisy at best.
You are missing the point. This technology is disruptive because until DeepSeek, creating your own LLM in your own home with your own data was completely impossible. Until DeepSeek, you had to rely on massive US tech corporations like Facebook, Google, and Microsoft to build these LLM models for you if you wanted to use one. This has now changed. This is why the stock valuation of these companies dropped off of a cliff overnight.
If you don’t trust DeepSeek to tell you the truth about Tiananmen Square or the ethnic cleansing of Uyghurs, make your own DeepSeek LLM model. It is still really hard to do, you need expertise, the training datasets are quite large, you need expensive equipment and a lot of computing time to do it. But it is not impossible for an individual to do now. Before DeepSeek, it was impossible without millions of dollars of equipment, now it is possible at a fraction of the cost. China democratized AI, and this has ruined the oligopoly of US tech companies. That is the point.
You don't need to be a futurism savant to notice the connection and extrapolate a certain kind of future from these 2 sentences:
'Thursday afternoon in #SanFrancisco: On one side of Mission Street, hotel workers chanted and banged on a drum outside the Marriott Marquis, part of a monthslong strike for higher wages and more #jobs. On the other, a tech company’s billboard proclaimed, “Stop #hiring humans.”'
https://www.sfgate.com/tech/article/sf-artisan-billboards-stop-hiring-humans-19969672.php
Can you imagine anything more dystopian than this?
Billboards in San Francisco saying “stop hiring humans”
