Science Wonder Stories vol. 1, no. 7 (December 1929)

If the guys were just … floating there in the sky, it would be one thing, but they are clearly sitting, in very cheap chairs, and their accoutrements are clearly on a floor.

So they're accessing Poundshop Minas Tirith remotely?

      Original magazine: archive.org/details/Science_Wo

Two men covered head to foot in protective suits, seated in folding chairs, one of them holding a trumpet- or megaphone-like object connected by wires to a box. The men are seen floating in the green sky in front of a city on a hillside. It would appear that the men are there remotely.

Why Did Degas Paint So Many Ballerinas?

        youtube.com/watch?v=Uoc44aOjS_A

"The Ballet Class depicts a silver-haired teacher, Jules Perrot, at the center giving private lessons to young dancers in the Hôtel de Choiseul.[6] According to the American art critic Richard Mühlberger, Perrot's critical expression suggests the Realism and lifelike quality of the artwork.[6] Perrot, the teacher, is staring at the dancing ballerina in the center of the composition. Perrot is also gesturing to a ballerina behind him.[6]

The dancers are arranged in a loose, connected line around the room and the teacher.[7] Some of the dancers are sitting and others are standing.[7] Some dancers watch the star pupil dance while others talk to one another or play with their dresses.[7] The dancers' bare backs, chests, arms, legs, shoulder blades, and exposed cleavage all emphasize nudity.[8] According to Carol Armstrong, an American art historian, the black neckbands the dancers wear highlight the whiteness and "nakedness" of the dancers.[8]

Additional details include the “stage mothers” watching over their children from the back wall, a can of water for dampening the dust on the floor, a little dog, and a girl sitting on the left, stretching her back.[7] Lillian Schacherl claims that all of these details suggest that this painting was carefully calculated and created in Degas's studio based on preliminary sketches.[7]" - Wikipedia

I'm having a ridiculously tough time finding solarpunk prints that aren't - somewhat ironically - designed with the assistance of so-called "A.I." If you or someone you know of is designing and selling solarpunk wall art with none of that involved, do let me know! Thanks!

Simply terrific composition, you can't fault Frazetta for laying out a scene, and the lighting and colours are all great too.

I would love a huge version of this on my wall.

Son (to himself): "I hate recursive floppy farming."
Father floppy farmer carrying a box of freshly harvested floppies looks at his son, somewhat angrily.

Father: "Did you say something?"

Son, box of floppies by his feet, holding a pitchfork, looks at his father innocently.

Son: "N-no, dad..."

Son continues angrily ripping diskettes off their stalks and placing them in the box. The father begins walking away.

Her face is elongated and solemn, with large almond-shaped eyes, a thin nose, and small mouth.

The miniature depicts Hildegard of Bingen, the medieval abbess. She is shown seated, her figure slightly larger than the others to emphasize her authority. Tongues or rays of flame descend from heaven onto her head, symbolizing the direct transmission of divine inspiration from God or the Holy Spirit.

Hildegard sits with a wax tablet or stylus in hand, sometimes poised as if about to write, but instead she gestures toward her scribe, Volmar, a monk who records her words.
